Amazon Air Boeing 767 Experiences Runway Excursion During Landing in Miami
The National Transportation Board (NTSB) has released preliminary details of an incident involving a Boeing 767-33A operated by Amazon Air. The aircraft, registered with 21 Air LLC, was flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Miami International Airport when it experienced a runway excursion during landing.
The NTSB recovered the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, which were sent to their laboratory in Washington, D.C. for analysis. The preliminary report reveals that there were speed alerts and no reversers used on landing.
Preliminary data from the FDR indicates that the nose landing gear and right main gear made contact with the runway at a ground speed of 158 knots, while initial brake application was recorded at 146 knots. There is also no evidence of air brake deployment or thrust reverser use during deceleration.
