An Amazon Air Boeing 767-300 operated by cargo carrier 21 Air had a serious accident while landing at Miami International Airport (MIA) on September 6, 2026. The plane, with registration code N1997A, overran the runway and crossed a street before coming to a stop in a parking lot.

The incident occurred after flight 2I7598 landed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, on runway 30, which is nearly 10,000 feet long. However, despite its length, the plane didn't come to a stop in time and went off the end of the runway by around 2,000 feet.

The plane was going at an incredibly fast speed of around 110 knots when it exited the runway, which is significantly faster than its typical landing speed of 140 knots. The pilots were also coming in too fast for a stable approach, and the left main gear wheel did not make contact with the runway after touchdown.

The plane caught on fire, with major damage to its right wing, but fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities so far. The airport has been shut down since the incident, and dozens of flights were diverted to nearby airports.
