Amazon Air Boeing Crashes at Miami International Airport

A Boeing operated by Amazon Air crashed at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing five people and injuring several others. The plane overran a runway, striking cars and navigational aids before hitting a van and a Toyota Corolla.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), there was no indication that speed brakes or thrust reversers were deployed during the crash. NTSB investigator Chihoon Shin said an aircraft performance study is necessary to determine what went wrong.

The plane, operated by 21 Air, had completed three flights on September 6, including a return trip from San Juan to Miami. The crash site was described as 'utter devastation' by NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy.

Amazon and 21 Air are cooperating with the investigation, which is expected to provide a full readout of the cockpit voice recorder on September 9.
