Amazon Air Crash: Pilot Warned of Excessive Speed Before Fatal Accident
A Boeing 767-300 freighter operated by Amazon Air crashed at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026, killing five people on the ground. The aircraft, a 32-year-old Boeing 767-33A(ER), had been chartered by 21 Air for Amazon Air and was transporting cargo.
A preliminary investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has revealed that one of the pilots voiced concerns about excessive speed during the approach. The pilot warned, 'too fast,' at 01:42 minutes before the cockpit voice recorder ended, but there is no indication that a response was given.
The NTSB reported that warning systems alerted the pilots to their descent rate and terrain proximity multiple times. Just seconds before touchdown, one of the pilots called for a go-around, which matched data from the flight data recorder. However, it appears that this action came too late.
