Amazon Air Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport, Killing Five

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has confirmed that five people were killed in Sunday's Amazon Air cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport. According to NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy, the victims were inside two vehicles struck by the Boeing 767: a 2012 Ford Econoline van and a Toyota Corolla Cross LE.

The van was owned by Professional Ocean Service Corporation, a contract cleaning company for airlines. The plane overran Runway 30 and traveled through a perimeter fence before striking the passenger vehicle on Northwest 67th Avenue.

The NTSB is investigating the crash with a 32-person team and plans to remain on the scene for at least a week. They will examine factors such as flight crew procedures, FAA oversight, air traffic control, and airport safety features. The lack of an engineered materials arresting system (EMAS) at the end of the runway will also be a key part of the investigation.
