Amazon Bolsters Board with Cybersecurity Veteran Kevin Mandia
Amazon has strengthened its board of directors by appointing Kevin Mandia, a well-known cybersecurity expert. The move comes as companies worldwide grapple with new AI-driven security risks.
Mandia, who founded and led cybersecurity firm Mandiant before selling it to Google for $5.4 billion in 2022, brings his extensive experience in fighting cyber threats across both government and private industry.
His background also includes launching a new startup called Armadin, which uses AI to spot network vulnerabilities, as well as serving as a general partner at Ballistic Ventures, a venture capital firm he co-founded that backs security-focused startups.
This addition to the board suggests Amazon wants seasoned cybersecurity judgment in the room as it scales AI services like Bedrock, Trainium chips, and enterprise tools like Amazon Quick and Continuum.
