Amazon Bolsters GovCloud with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta
Amazon has expanded its government AI service, AWS GovCloud, by adding several new model suppliers. These include OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta, in addition to Amazon's own Nova models. This move aims to make it easier for government customers to access a range of artificial intelligence technologies within the AWS cloud environment.
The introduction of these new models is part of Amazon's strategy to compete more effectively in the government computing market. The company has been growing rapidly, with revenue jumping 37% year-over-year in the second quarter and operating income rising by 63%. By offering a range of AI model options, Amazon hopes to win more government AI workloads without relying solely on its own models.
The expansion also gives AWS access to demand related to some of the largest names in artificial intelligence. However, it remains to be seen whether this will result in quicker public-sector growth and a larger contribution to AWS revenue.
