Amazon Bolsters Satellite Network with Additional Rocket Orders
Amazon has ordered six more Ariane 6 rockets to support its Amazon Leo satellite network through 2031. This move shows the company's commitment to challenging SpaceX's Starlink constellation.
Despite this, Starlink still holds significant advantages over Amazon Leo in terms of launch cadence, satellite manufacturing rate, coverage, service pricing, and subscriber acquisition.
AWS alone grew 37% year-over-year to $42.2 billion in Q2 FY26, with a backlog of $496 billion. This financial muscle gives Amazon an edge in its pursuit of Starlink's market share.
However, analysts believe that Amazon needs a visible jump in launch cadence and public coverage maps to make its case credible over the next year.
