Amazon Boosts Satellite Broadband Project with Six More Rocket Launches
Amazon's satellite broadband project, Amazon Leo, has secured six additional launches of the Ariane 64 rocket from Arianespace. This brings the total planned launches to 24 by 2031. The first launch of 32 satellites took place on February 12, 2026, followed by a successful launch of 36 satellites on June 17, setting a new record for payload weight for the Ariane series.
The announcement comes as Amazon's Price-to-Sales (P/S) ratio stands at approximately 3.4x, significantly above its historical median. This elevated P/S ratio suggests that the market is pricing in high expectations for future growth, given that the company is currently unprofitable and cash-flow-negative.
Amazon.com Inc operates as a leading online retailer and marketplace for third-party sellers, with a market capitalization of approximately $2.72 trillion. The company generates around 74% of its revenue from retail-related activities, followed by Amazon Web Services (17%) and advertising services (9%).
