Amazon-Branded Plane Crashes in Miami, Killing Five
A plane crash in Miami on Sunday resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to three others, according to Miami-Dade officials. The aircraft was a Boeing 767 wearing Amazon colors, but it was operated by 21 Air.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the plane as 21 Air Flight 7598, which is separate from Amazon's branding and ownership. The FAA registry lists N1997A as a 1994 Boeing 767-33A owned by Andromeda Leasing II LLC, with General Electric CF6-80C2B6F engines.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said the company was supporting those affected and working with officials. The company's statement did not provide an estimate of damage or financial exposure.
