Amazon Builds Massive Operations Hub in Nova Scotia

A massive $200 million operations hub is being built in Nova Scotia's Burnside Industrial Park by Amazon. The site, spanning over one kilometre and buzzing with heavy machinery, will become the e-commerce giant's largest investment in the province.

According to permit records, the project involves constructing a two-storey building with a proposed footprint of 114,947.20 square metres, standing about 15 metres high. The facility will be more than three times the size of the nearby IKEA store and will significantly expand Amazon's Canadian logistics network.

The Amazon facility will employ over 1,000 full-time workers who 'pick, pack, and ship bulky or larger-sized customer items such as patio furniture, outdoor equipment, or rugs.' The project is part of Amazon's efforts to enhance its Canadian logistics network, which includes nearly 70 major facilities across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.
