Amazon Cancels Spider-Noir Amid Low Viewership Numbers

Amazon's live-action series Spider-Noir has been cancelled after one season. The show, based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, with an impressive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its initial success, however, the show failed to maintain viewer interest, dropping significantly in ratings after its first two episodes.

The high cost of producing the series was also a contributing factor in its cancellation. According to Deadline, Amazon's streaming service prioritizes shows that deliver strong viewership numbers and are cost-effective. Spider-Noir simply didn't meet these expectations, despite receiving 11 Emmy Award nominations in technical categories.

While fans may be disappointed by the show's premature cancellation, Nicolas Cage is set to reprise his role as Ben Reilly in next summer's animated film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Additionally, Sony and Amazon are still developing another series together, although details about this project remain scarce.
