Amazon Cargo Jet Crash: Braking Systems Failed to Deploy
An Amazon cargo jet crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five people and injuring another five. The plane overran the runway and struck two vehicles before coming to a stop near a parking lot.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released preliminary findings indicating that key braking systems did not deploy during the crash. Specifically, speed brakes and thrust reversers were not deployed, according to NTSB investigator Chihoon Shin.
'When we analyze the full list of parameters, we'll have a better idea of the aircraft's performance during this landing,' Shin said. 'We need to talk to the crew and get their account to understand how they're manipulating the controls in order to get a better understanding of the situation.'
