Amazon Cargo Jet Crash Probe Focuses on Late Landing
Federal investigators are probing whether an Amazon cargo jet landed too late to stop safely, which may have contributed to the fatal crash at Miami International Airport on September 7, 2026.
The accident resulted in five deaths and three critical injuries, with two others hospitalized for less severe injuries. The Boeing 767 aircraft had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, before overrunning the runway and striking vehicles used by a warehouse and nearby businesses.
A video of the landing shows the plane far down the runway when it touched down around 2 p.m. Aviation experts are working to determine what happened, including where the plane actually landed and why the pilots abandoned their initial landing attempt.
