Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes at MIA, Kills 5 Cleaning Company Employees
On Sunday, September 6, an Amazon cargo jet crashed at Miami International Airport, killing five people and injuring several others. The victims were all employees of Professional Ocean Service Corp., a cleaning company that provides services to airlines. Rolando Aleman, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, Julio C. Pineda, Carlos Acosta Fajardo, and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo lost their lives in the tragic accident.
The plane, a Boeing 767, was returning from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it overran the runway and struck a van carrying seven cleaning company employees. The vehicle was torn apart, and debris scattered across the airport's property.
NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy described the scene as 'utter devastation,' with tire marks leading into the grass, destroyed vehicles, and navigational equipment scattered everywhere.
