Investigations into the crash of an Amazon cargo jet at Miami International Airport are underway after it overshot a runway and killed five people. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released new flight-recorder data on Wednesday, revealing that the plane tried to abort its landing moments before crashing.

The Boeing 767 cargo jet was arriving from Puerto Rico with about 32,000 pounds of cargo when it ran off the runway and smashed into a van. The NTSB said there were no hazardous materials on board.

NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy explained that the cockpit voice recorder captured over two hours of good-quality audio. Investigators plan to interview the pilots before releasing a readout of the recording.

The flight-data recorder showed the plane's nose landing gear and right main landing gear touched down first, followed by the left main landing gear 11 seconds later. However, investigators found that the brakes were released and throttles increased to go-around thrust 15 seconds before the recorder stopped.
