Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes at Miami International Airport

A devastating Amazon cargo jet crash occurred at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 7, 2026, resulting in five fatalities and five injuries. The Boeing 767-300, operated by 21 Air, was attempting to land on Runway 30 from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it overran the runway and crashed into multiple vehicles.

According to aviation attorney Robert A. Clifford, who has handled numerous commercial airline crash cases, the pilot's decision to land with a tailwind instead of a headwind may have contributed to the crash. 'This appears to be a classic tailwind landing mistake,' Clifford stated. 'The straight-in landing was easy and quick, but landing from the other side with a headwind would have been the wiser choice.'

Clifford also expressed concerns about the lack of guardrails or an arresting system at the end of Runway 30, which he believes could have prevented the crash. He likened this to 'graveyard engineering,' where corporations install safety features only after tragedies occur.
