Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes at Miami International Airport
A Boeing 767-300 cargo jet operated by 21 Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 6, 2026, killing five people and injuring five others. The plane, which was owned by Andromeda Leasing II LLC, overran the runway while attempting to land from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
According to Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADSB) flight tracking data, the jet touched down on Runway 30 at about 167 knots groundspeed with approximately 5,000 feet remaining of its overall length. This was instead of the desired 1,000-foot touchdown point.
Aviation Attorney Robert A. Clifford believes that pilot error may have contributed to the crash, specifically landing with a tailwind instead of a headwind. 'The highway vehicles stood no chance against the 300,000-pound Boeing 767-300 crashing into them at that speed,' Clifford said.
