Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes into Cleaning Crew Van at Miami Airport

A cleaning crew of five members was killed when an Amazon cargo jet crashed into their van at Miami International Airport. The crash occurred as the crew, working for Professional Ocean Service Corp., were wrapping up their eight-hour shift cleaning planes.

The victims, all men from Cuba, were identified as Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47.

Two other workers in the van survived but were left in critical condition after being crushed by the speeding jet.

The crew's job is to clean and disinfect planes, often working in harsh conditions with little experience and low pay. 'It's an incredibly hard job and not as well compensated as it should be,' said Manny Pastreich, president of 32BJ Service Employees International Union.
