Amazon Cargo Plane Crash: Go-Around Attempt Came Too Late

A Boeing 767 cargo plane operated by Amazon crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five people and injuring five others. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released a summary of events captured in the cockpit voice recorder.

The pilot cautioned that the plane was moving too fast roughly two minutes and 40 seconds after being cleared to land. However, the other pilot did not have a consistent verbal response to the comments about speed. The NTSB also confirmed that one of the pilots called for a 'go-around' 15 seconds after the aircraft appeared to touch down.

Stephen Carbone, a former accident investigator with the NTSB, said it seemed like the pilot initiated a go-around but did so too late. It takes time for the engines to spool up and generate enough thrust to get the aircraft back in the air, he explained.
