Amazon Cargo Plane Crash Kills Five After Overrunning Runway at Miami International Airport

The crash of Amazon's cargo plane at Miami International Airport on Sunday resulted in five fatalities and an unspecified number of injuries, according to federal investigators. The NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said that the plane overran the runway by approximately 1,300 feet before hitting multiple vehicles and fences.

Homendy described the scene as 'devastating' and stated that the van carrying seven airport cleaning workers was 'torn apart', with debris scattered across the area. The victims were limited to those inside the van and a nearby SUV.

The plane, which was arriving from San Juan with two crew members aboard, was on its third flight of the day. Investigators have recovered both the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, which are being sent to NTSB headquarters for analysis.
