Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami Airport, Five Dead
A cargo plane operated by Amazon Prime Air, Boeing 767-300 flight 7598, overran the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday and crashed while landing. At least five people died in the incident.
The plane, which had departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, struck multiple vehicles on the ground shortly before 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT). Five people were also injured, with three in critical condition.
Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah said that two people were trapped in vehicles and the pilot and co-pilot were trapped inside the plane. Emergency personnel responded to the incident, but an active fuel leak from the aircraft remained a concern.
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash. Amazon Prime Air has faced criticism after a similar incident in 2019, when Atlas Air Flight 3591 crashed into Trinity Bay, killing all three people on board.
