Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami Airport, Five Dead
A cargo plane operated by Amazon Prime Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The Boeing 767-300 freighter, operated by 21 Air, was travelling from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it overran the runway at 207km/h.
The aircraft struck several vehicles parked beyond the runway, trapping at least two people inside their cars and leaving the pilot and co-pilot trapped in the wreckage. The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched a team to investigate the crash, with Boeing and 21 Air pledging their support.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said that the company's priority is the safety and well-being of everyone involved. The airport halted all flights after the crash but reopened two of its four runways by Sunday evening.
