A devastating Amazon cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport on Sunday has claimed five lives and injured five others. The aircraft, identified as Prime Air Flight 7598, overran the runway while landing around 2 p.m. local time after departing from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

According to officials, the plane struck multiple vehicles and caught fire, prompting a massive emergency response and widespread flight disruptions. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said more than 60 units and 200 personnel responded to the scene after the aircraft left the runway.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the crash, with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) also sending a go-team to assist in the probe. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy called the crash scene 'devastating' and said flight and voice recorders have been recovered.

Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel confirmed that one of its cargo aircraft was involved in the incident, saying the company is 'heartbroken to learn that five people lost their lives in today's incident at Miami International Airport.' The cause of the runway overrun remains under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
