Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami Airport, Killing Five
A Boeing 767 cargo plane operated by Amazon's Prime Air service crashed on September 6, 2026, at Miami International Airport, killing five people and injuring five others.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released transcripts from the cockpit voice recorder, which revealed that the pilots were issued multiple warnings for flying 'too low' to the ground. The recording showed that one of the pilots made a comment about the plane's high rate of speed about 100 seconds before impact.
The pilots acknowledged they were going 'too fast,' but there was no consistent verbal response to the comments about speed. The autopilot system disconnected seconds later, and a 'too low terrain' callout was issued electronically four times.
Federal investigators are focusing on whether the plane landed too late to stop safely on the runway.
