Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International After Overrunning Runway
An Amazon Prime Air cargo Boeing 767 aircraft overran the runway at Miami International Airport on September 6, striking multiple vehicles and catching fire. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. local time when the plane, operated by 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air, was landing from a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
According to authorities, the aircraft overran Runway 30, which is over 9,000 feet long, and caught fire. Multiple vehicles on the surrounding road were also struck. More than 60 fire-rescue units responded to the scene, with emergency crews arriving to find the plane on fire.
The FAA identified the aircraft as 21 Air Flight 7598, and is leading an investigation into the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also gathering information about the crash. Amazon stated that it was working closely with local authorities and officials to understand what happened and support those affected.
