Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

An Amazon Prime Air cargo plane suffered a catastrophic failure at Miami International Airport on Sunday, sending up a massive cloud of smoke and forcing the closure of all runways.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. when the aircraft, which had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, overran the runway and struck multiple vehicles before bursting into flames.

More than 60 units of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene, arriving to find the plane on fire as crews worked to extinguish the flames and assess patients. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it would be sending investigators to probe the cause of the crash.

The airport's spokesperson confirmed that all runways and taxiways were closed following the incident, resulting in delays for around 250 flights as of late afternoon Sunday. The FAA warned that even after the airport reopened, delays were likely to persist due to reduced arrival and departure rates.
