Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

An Amazon Prime cargo plane, operated by 21 Air, crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others.

The plane, a Boeing 767, overran the runway while landing around 2 p.m. ET after departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Rosie Cordero-Stutz, the Miami-Dade County sheriff, said that the plane came to rest in a field adjacent to the airport, where it struck several vehicles and caused a fuel leak.

The FAA will investigate the crash, which has led to significant delays and flight cancellations at the airport. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy issued a ground stop on planes until 5:30 p.m., allowing first responders to assess the scene.
