Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport
A Boeing 767-300 cargo plane, operated by Amazon's Prime Air service, overran Runway 30 at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 6. The aircraft was identified as 21 Air Flight 7598 and had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
At approximately 1:58 p.m., the plane crashed beyond the runway after landing at Miami International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating the incident. Video footage from the scene showed thick smoke rising from the area as emergency crews responded.
The crash resulted in five fatalities and five injuries, with three of the injured individuals taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and two to Jackson South Medical Center. Airport officials reported that the runway overrun caused a ground stop, shutting down Miami International Airport's runways and taxiways, although two of the airport's four runways had since reopened.
