Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport
An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026, after overrunning the runway while landing. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. ET as Prime Air Flight 7598, operated by 21 Air, attempted to land from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The aircraft struck multiple vehicles and burst into flames, forcing the closure of all runways at the airport. Over 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the crash, with crews working to extinguish the flames and assess patients. Officials had not yet released information on injuries or deaths.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sent investigators to the scene and issued a full ground stop at Miami International Airport as emergency crews responded. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the FAA was sending investigators and had issued a ground stop.
