Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The aircraft, operated by 21 Air, overran the runway around 2 p.m. after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The plane plowed across a road used by warehouse workers and other businesses surrounding the airport, striking vehicles and bursting into flames. Miami-Dade County officials confirmed that five people died in the incident, three critically injured and two others hospitalized with less severe injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is sending a team to investigate the crash, led by Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy. Amazon said it would cooperate with any investigation, expressing its 'deepest sympathies' to the families of those affected.
