Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport After Overrunning Runway

An investigation has been launched into the crash of an Amazon cargo plane that overran the runway at Miami International Airport on September 6.

The Boeing 767-300 cargo jet, operated by 21 Air for the Amazon Air network, was landing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it struck several vehicles and caught fire, killing at least five people and injuring five others.

According to Flightradar24 data, the plane touched down on Runway 30 at 1:53 p.m. local time, traveling at about 112 knots (129 mph) before leaving the usable portion of the runway.

Aviation experts have pointed out that a late touchdown could be a contributing factor in the crash, as it would reduce the available distance for braking.
