Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport, Five Dead
Tragedy struck at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon when an Amazon Prime Air cargo plane, operated by 21 Air, overran the runway and crashed into multiple vehicles just outside the airport grounds. The incident occurred around 2:00pm ET, shortly after the plane arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The crash caused a fire with heavy smoke, prompting more than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units to respond to the scene. Federal officials also issued a full ground stop at the airport, shutting down all runways and taxiways.
According to authorities, five people were killed in the collision, while five others were injured and taken to area medical facilities for treatment. The victims' identities have not been released yet.
