Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport, Five Dead

An Amazon cargo plane operated by 21 Air crashed at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The aircraft overran the runway around 2 p.m., striking vehicles and bursting into flames.

The plane, a 32-year-old Boeing 767 originally built to carry passengers, had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico. It crashed on a road used by warehouse workers and other businesses surrounding the airport.

According to Miami-Dade County officials, three people were critically injured, while two others were hospitalized with less severe injuries. The cause of the crash has not been determined, and it is unclear if weather played a role.

The National Transportation Safety Board sent a team to Miami led by Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy to investigate the incident. Amazon said in a statement that it would cooperate with any investigation, expressing its deepest sympathies for those affected by the loss.
