Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International, Five Killed
A Boeing 767 operated by Amazon's Prime Air network, but flown by contractor 21 Air, overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday and burst into flames. The crash killed five people and injured five others, with three of the injured in critical condition.
The aircraft, which was built in 1994 as a passenger jet and converted to a freighter in 2015, was attempting to land after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, at around 1:58 p.m. local time.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane overran Runway 30 and crossed a road before hitting several vehicles near Northwest 42nd Avenue. It then came to rest in a field, sending a column of black smoke over one of the United States' busiest airports.
