Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes in Miami, Killing Five

An Amazon Prime cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five people and injuring five others. The Boeing 767-33 Alpha plane was on its third flight of the day when it overran the runway and hit navigational aids and equipment before striking a white van with seven people aboard.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy said at a press conference that investigators had recovered the flight data and cockpit voice recorders, also known as 'black boxes', which would be sent to NTSB headquarters for evaluation. The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

Homendy described the scene as 'utter devastation' with tire marks continuing through the grass, debris everywhere, and airbags visible in the surrounding area. Thirty-two NTSB investigators have arrived at the scene to begin their probe, which is expected to take at least a week.
