Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes in Miami, Killing Five
An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring several others. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, along with the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Boeing 767 aircraft, operated by North Carolina-based cargo carrier 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air, overran the runway after landing. Video footage shows the plane remaining airborne longer than normal before touching down and crossing a roadway near airport warehouses.
The plane then slammed into multiple vehicles before catching fire. Investigators will examine various factors, including pilot decision-making, weather conditions, and whether the aircraft had enough runway to stop safely after touchdown.
Experts say investigators will also review maintenance records, braking systems, and the possibility of tailwinds, which can increase landing speed and reduce stopping distance.
