Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes Near Miami International Airport
At least five people have died and five others were injured when an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway near Miami International Airport on Sunday, officials said.
The plane, operated by 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air, departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was attempting to land at the airport. However, it went beyond the operational boundary of the diagonal runway and struck several vehicles in the area.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded quickly to the scene, where they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the plane. Crews used specialized firefighting units and foam to extinguish the fire while conducting search and rescue operations for the pilots and co-pilots inside the cockpit.
Three injured victims were taken to a local trauma center in critical condition, while two others were assessed and taken to local hospitals. No victims have yet been identified.
