Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes Near Miami International Airport
A Boeing 767-300 cargo plane carrying Amazon's Prime Air logo crashed near Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon after overrunning the runway during landing.
The aircraft, operated by 21 Air Flight 7598, had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and landed at MIA around 2 p.m. local time on September 6.
The plane overran the diagonal runway and came to rest at the northwest end of the airport, according to a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
All runways and taxiways at MIA were closed as of 3 p.m. local time, and a ground stop was in effect due to the incident.
