Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes Off Miami Runway, Five Killed
A tragic incident occurred at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026, when an Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300 cargo plane overran the runway while attempting to land from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The aircraft, which was operated by 21 Air, burst into flames after striking multiple vehicles and resulted in a large fuel leak.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that five people lost their lives in the accident, with three others critically injured and two hospitalized with less severe injuries. Miami-Dade Rescue Fire Chief Ray Jadallah stated that some individuals were trapped inside vehicles, while the pilot and copilot were also trapped within the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it was gathering information about the crash. The FAA sent investigators to the scene, and a full ground stop was issued at Miami International Airport as emergency crews responded. Approximately 250 flights were delayed due to the incident.
