Amazon Cargo Plane Operator Had History of Ignoring Safety Complaints

The operator of the Amazon Prime Air cargo plane that crashed in Miami, killing five people, has a history of safety complaints by former employees.

Numerous senior staff members have filed complaints against 21 Air, a North Carolina-based operator controlled by Houston Astros owner Jim Crane through an LLC.

Former pilots claim the company ignored safety concerns, failed to properly document issues, and pressured pilots to complete routes too quickly to comply with rest requirements.

Retired pilot Tony Bless said he 'anticipated' a tragedy like this, citing perennial concerns about maintenance safety issues, pressure from the chief pilot's office, and the quality of pilots hired by 21 Air.
