Amazon Cargo Plane Overshoots Miami Runway
An Amazon cargo aircraft overran the runway during a landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday, striking multiple vehicles on a road surrounding the airport. The incident occurred when the 32-year-old Boeing 767, flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico, landed on runway 30, which is more than 9,000 feet long.
According to FAA data, the plane was unable to stop before the end of the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board is gathering information about the crash and will investigate along with the Federal Aviation Administration.
An Amazon spokesperson said the company is 'doing everything we can to support those affected.' The plane damaged navigational equipment when it left the pavement, and all runways at the airport are closed due to the incident.
