Amazon Cargo Plane Overshoots Runway at Miami International Airport
A cargo plane carrying Amazon Air / Prime Air cargo overran the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 6. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. local time when the Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft, identified as 21 Air Flight 7598, landed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
A statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the plane had overran the runway after landing. According to the FAA, emergency personnel were present at the scene, responding to the incident. The FAA will investigate the cause of the incident.
The airport was temporarily grounded as a result of the incident, with departures halted until further notice. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported that multiple patients had been transported from the scene, and over 60 members of the rescue team responded to the emergency.
