Amazon Confirms Bug Fix for Fire TV Sideloading Issue
Amazon has confirmed that a recent Fire TV software update contained an unintentional bug that prevented some devices from sideloading apps through Downloader and similar apps.
The bug, which was discovered by an Amazon customer, caused the list of installed apps to appear incomplete or empty on some devices, making it impossible for users to grant permission to install other apps from unknown sources.
Amazon has stated that a fix is in the works and will be rolled out as a silent system component update, which will not change the OS version number.
The fix is expected to arrive automatically on affected devices over the coming week, and users can check for it by going to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for updates.
