Amazon Crash Lawsuit Blames Systemic Failures
The widow of a van driver killed in an Amazon cargo jet crash has filed a lawsuit against the tech giant and the aviation company that operated the doomed plane. The suit alleges 'multiple, concurrent failures' led to her husband's death.
The crash occurred on September 7, 2026, at Miami International Airport, where an Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo plane overran Runway 30 and crashed into a van driven by Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo. The vehicle was being driven within the airport's property when the plane overran the runway.
The lawsuit, filed in Miami-Dade County's 11th Judicial Circuit Court, names Amazon, 21 Air, and pilots Joseph Carroll and Jamie Felipe Silva Molina as defendants. It claims there was a systemic failure by the companies and pilots that led to the deadly crash.
The suit lists several factors, including the operation of a 32-year-old aircraft with braking issues, inadequate training, and pilot error for attempting a high-speed landing while failing to execute a mandatory go-around.
