Amazon Creates 160K Temporary Jobs Ahead of Festive Season
Amazon India has created over 160,000 temporary work opportunities ahead of the festive season. The jobs span across 400 cities in India, including large metros and tier 2 and 3 cities. These positions include direct and indirect work opportunities, such as pick, pack, ship, and deliver customer orders safely and reliably.
The new associates will have access to Amazon's safety and welfare programs, including benefits like a safe, supportive, and inclusive workplace, safety, financial, and social security. The company's Samridhi program will also support associates in enrolling on the e-shram portal and accessing government welfare and social security programs.
Amazon claims to have fulfillment centers across 15 states with over 43 million cubic feet of storage space for seller inventory. It has sortation centers in 19 states, a network of close to 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations, 28,000 'Hub delivery' partners, and thousands of Amazon Flex partners.
