Amazon Data Center Proposal Sparks Community Feedback Period

A proposed Amazon data center in Wallula, Washington has opened its public comment period, allowing residents to submit written feedback until October 12.

The project, submitted by Seattle-based Amazon Data Services, Inc., calls for building three 220,000-square-foot data center buildings on a 134-acre parcel along Sundance Road.

Plans also include an industrial water facility and a security building, as well as storage tanks, evaporation and stormwater ponds, septic systems, access roads, and a pad dedicated for a future electrical substation.

The decision on the application will be made by the Walla Walla County Community Development Department's director, Melissa Shumake, who holds the title.
