Amazon Delivery Personnel Arrested in India for Swapping High-Value Items
A ring of Amazon delivery personnel has been arrested in India for tampering with parcels and replacing high-value items with dummy goods, causing an estimated loss of around Rs 8 lakh to the company.
The Surat Police busted the racket after a complaint was filed by Mayur Bhimrao Shinde, a Legal Associate Manager with Express Transportation Services Private Limited, Amazon's delivery partner. The accused used to cut open parcel seals carefully, remove the original products, and replace them with substitute items before processing the packages through the company's system.
During the investigation, police recovered an Apple iPhone 17 Pro (1TB) and a SanDisk Extreme 8TB Portable External SSD from one of the prime suspects. The goods recovered so far are worth around Rs 3.25 lakh in total, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining products.
