Amazon Deploys AI-Powered Message Verification for Customers
Amazon is taking steps to combat impersonation scams by introducing a new feature that allows users to verify whether emails, text messages, or phone calls are legitimate. The update uses artificial intelligence (AI) to compare incoming messages against Amazon's records of sent communications.
With the feature, Alexa for Shopping can analyze the contents, formatting, and sender information of a message to determine its authenticity. If it is certain that the message is from Amazon, the AI assistant will confirm this. However, if there is any doubt, users are advised to check their orders in the app and contact Amazon's support team directly.
This update follows a similar feature launched by Amazon earlier this year, which allows users to forward suspicious messages to 'verify@amazon.com' for verification.
