Amazon Doubles Down on Northwest Louisiana Data Centers
Amazon is expanding its presence in northwest Louisiana with an additional $6 billion investment in data centers across the region. This brings the total planned investment to $18 billion, just six months after the company's initial announcement in February.
The new funds will support a third campus at Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport, joining two facilities already under construction in Caddo and Bossier Parishes. Louisiana Economic Development projects that this expansion alone will create 210 direct jobs and 499 additional indirect jobs, bringing the total potential job count across all three campuses to around 2,500 positions.
The company plans to launch workforce development programs with local technical colleges and community organizations to help prepare residents for roles such as electricians, HVAC technicians, project engineers, network specialists, operations managers, and security specialists. Amazon will also invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure across all three campuses and fund required water and wastewater improvements itself.
Amazon Director of Data Center Supply Solutions Keith Klein stated that the company intends to keep its commitments for the new campus the same as those made for the first two, emphasizing that 'Amazon pays its own way' and communities will benefit from their presence.
